Hi, we are looking to spec a new edit PC for use with CC 2017, mainly Premiere and AE work. This question seems to get asked periodically on these forums – I think I know what we can get that’s best for our budget but there are varied opinions…!

I’ll attempt to give all necessary info here:
    Mostly used for HD video
    Maybe 4k in the future.
Connected to a SAN for main storage of rushes (I know that’s not ideal but that is our current system for now)
Not typically using proxies for HD, we edit in the native camera codec. (BMCC/DNXHD or Fs7/XAVC)
Timeline renders are normally set to Cineform 10 bit.

As briefly as possible, potential specs are:
    i7 7700k Kabylake
    32gb DDR 4 2133mhz Ram
120GB M.2 SSD (for windows and programs)
250GB SSD for Adobe CC media cache, Disk cache, Media database
    Nvidia GTX1060 6GB
    Win 10 Pro

+ compatible mobo, PSU, cooler, case etc.

Does this sound ok for a limited budget? Or is it worth pushing for a 6 core processor/64GB RAM etc).
I read that CC 2017 is now prioritizing individual core speed over multi-core usage, hence going for the Kabylake processor @4.2-4.5ghz.
So if we went for an i7-6800k 6 core the per core speed is about 3.4-3.6ghz, and if CC doesn’t really use multi-core very well then this isn’t worth it…right?

    Thanks for any opinions!
