Posting to Server
Hello,
The ad agency I work for is finally getting out of the stone-age of having TV stations pick up tapes from us. We’re now going to post our commercials to a server for the stations to download. What format do most stations want in this regard? Qucktime? Uncompressed AVI?

Aaaron,
Stations usually only accept one or two formats, and that varies by station. If they let you choose, then I would pick QT animation 100%, as they will be recompressing anyway.

In Australia we post all TVCs in an MPEG-2 format running at CBR minimum 8MB/sec I tend to give them a High Profile CBR @ 16MB/sec. Our stations get upset if we supply AVI or QT files in DV or Uncompressed, because they have to turn it into an MPEG-2, so they ask that all prodcution co’s provide it that way.
We upload it to a place called DubSat they have a site with specs for upload…
