    Hi list,

Wondering if anyone is aware of software which would be suitable for managing a posthouse (or at least multiple projects being worked on by several editors). I am hoping to find an app or combination of apps which would help organize and automate the post process which could hopefully steer multiple projects from initial correspondence to delivery. Perhaps there is a funtion specific program or people have combined a number of apps to accompish the smooth management of multiple projects. I habe been reading up on Merlin (productivity-schediling app) which seems like it might be perfect and combining/interfacing this with something like Daylite to handle the front end client communication stuff. I’m at a stage where things are starting to get misplaced and projects with deadlines are being forgotten about so I’d like to get a clear and manageable overview in place. I’d love to hear any input from editors who may have been down this path.

    Warmest,

    Kevin

Hi Kevin, please feel to email me directly, I have owned, run and edited via post houses in Sydney, New York and LA, it was rare for anything to fall through the cracks, a good post producer, preferrably a Virgo 🙂 sounds what you need. The problem with any software program is that it is only as good as the person inputting the information. I still have records of projects going back to th 70’s. In this day and age assistants and post producers have much more to learn but it’s all basically the same. You have a client, you bid, are awarded the job, edit, post and deliver. but that doesn’t even begin to tell the whole story, it is the systems, schedules and the people involved that can make or break a good experience for clients and editors, amen.
