post audio suggestions for on built in dslr mic?

Hi folks,
Doesn’t happen very often, but we forgot to hit record on the audio recorder.
Any suggestions to help the on cam mic sound better? Using generalities of course. I’m sure you all are familiar with the sound of 5D mic 10 feet away from talent.
We usually use Audition, but do have other Pro Tools experts on site here.

Is it just low in volume, or is it tinny sounding as well? If it’s low, try booting the gain slightly. Tinny– boost the lows.

Can you ADR or is it an interview?

Hello Kevin and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

You might try removing some of the wash with de-reverb in iZotope RX3 or RX3 advanced.

Point me to a 20 second or so sample and I’ll take a whack at it.

PS. The noise reduction in FCP X can sometimes be surprising.

One a bit too much the other is backed off a bit.

Can’t get rid of the room totally, but it sounds like a minority live room.

How do these match up with what you’ve got?

Thanks for that Ty–we are definitely taking a look at RX3/advanced. The sample is by no means perfect, but still is very impressive what you were able to do with it. Thanks for taking the time.

Do you have fcpx. I don’t, but Im wondering what options exist in fcpx to export audio (with handles obviously) to a sound dub studio.?
Either an OMF2 or aff file with embedded media?

Hey Peter,

Yes I do. I got it hoping it would be sorted out and embellished. I can’t get to it at the moment but will get back to you. It does offer some exports. Don’t recall which at the moment.
