Possible to split timecode signal from recorder rather than daisy chain?
Hi all,
I’m working on a setup where I’m planning to feed timecode from a Zoom F8 to five (5) Atomos recorders. I can save some money by using the Shoguns rather than the Shogun Studios, but they don’t have timecode loop-through. Is it possible to split the timecode signal from the Zoom F8 to feed multiple video recorders in parallel? If so, what kind of hardware would I need?

Remember that a time code signal is square wave audio not video. You can split it just as if it was a standard audio signal. From the TC out BNC connector on the F8 you can use any number of BNC splitters/adapters with no problem. You may need a TC amplifier to keep the TC signal at optimum level.

Thanks Eric, sounds good. Don’t think I’ll end up having this problem on my current shoot but will use this technique in the future.
