Does anyone know if AJA is planning this?
I figure a nice setup would be a 17 inch Macbook Pro,
hook up the IO-HD via Firewire-800 and using an
express card, hook up your SATA RAID.
    No ?

    No.

Firewire 800 is not near fastest enough for uncompressed HD. If you’re doing hdv, or DVCPro 100 HD you don’t need an external device like the Io.

It would be the handiest way to monitor DVCPro HD footage from a laptop other than a $20,000 DVCPro Hd deck.

    No?

It does make sense that someone will come with a monitoring solution for compressed HD formats on a laptop. Don’t know if it will be an AJA or firewire gadget or not.
