A friend of mine, and I’m not just saying that to save humiliation, shot a project on 16mm film (24 fps). She is doing the audio track in final cut (30 fps). She synced the sound to a copy of the film shot on miniDV (30 fps). She is not planning on putting the audio on the film but instead just playing it back from a cd. Will there be any sync issues? if so, How would one go about making the audio (30 fps) sync up with the film (24 fps)?
    Thanks

Audo is audio…it doesn’t run at a frame rate. It should come close to matching up.

Agreed. But playing it back on CD? With a boombox or something? if you don’t hit play at the right moment or have a scratch on the disc…. or the player doesn’t like CD-R….. sounds like disaster waiting to happen.

the playing from a CD isn’t going to work if you have people talking, there’s no way you’ll hit the play on the boombox and projector at the EXACT same time, and for people talking it would have to be EXACT. if it’s just music then it’ll be OK but still could be a little off if you have changes at precise times, but for your purposes it should be OK.

Actually the process of transferring film to NTSC video creates a slight speed change. The video would be .1% (I think) slower than the film. So if the video is the reference, there will be a small sync issue just to begin with, no matter how you try to sync up the playback.
