Position keyframe fundamentals
If an object has two identical position keyframes separated by a few frames, how can there be movement of that object in between those two identical keyframes? This keeps happening to me when I copy/paste my keyframes, but the logic of why the object moves eludes me. I’ve been successfully copying/pasting my keyframes for this entire project I’m working on, so why is there movement between these now? I don’t get it.

It’s called the boomerang effect. You can read about it here.
Basic answer is to change the offending keyframes’ interpolations to linear. The page I linked explains that and it even links you to some very useful video tutorials here at the COW.

Thanks. After a wee bit of digging, I learned that I should’ve been using hold keyframes the whole time. I appreciate the reply.
