Position and Scale Snapping

In the Effects Controls tab, twirl the triangle next to Motion to open up the values. Hover the cursor over the X value in Position line (X on the left, Y on the right) you’ll get a side-to-side arrow <->, click and hold the left mouse button and move left or right to change the value. You can also double click on the value and enter a number directly.

If you want to see a bounding box in the Program window, click on the square next to the word Motion, then adjust your values.

Thanks. I think that is exactly what I described I was doing…

I’m trying to turn off the “snapped” values that keep the position from moving until you slide your mouse too far. I would like the value to reflect the distance the mouse initially moves, and not when the program decides I have moved the mouse far enough to register a response.

Don’t know what else to call that…

Your terminology is good and your description is clear. However I cannot replicate that behavior at least not in the current Premiere CC 2015 (9.0.2). When I adjust values in the Motion Tab they adjust in increments of 1 and do not snap to the starting value or to edges of other layers.

Snapping works in the timeline and is turned on and off with the magnet icon or with the S key unless you’ve customized that. But that’s not what you are asking about.

Same here, mine behaves just as expected, no snapping like jumps. Maybe it is related to the mouse, its settings or the surface it is tracking on.

Oh, good, I’m not the only crazy one. Mine’s doing this now. All of a sudden about two weeks ago this started happening to me. Confirmed that the playhead Snap settings don’t affect it. It’s driving me insane because I do a lot of keyframing of simple moves for presentations that I’ve shot. I’ve gone through all the settings and menus/preferences, both for Effect Controls and the app as a whole, and can’t find anything relevant. Just confirmed with one of our part timers that this happens intermittently on his machine, and he can’t figure it out either. It doesn’t seem to be tied to particular projects, so I’m not sure what else to try.
