    Hi,

It looks like I may have to continue editing my documentary overseas. Now, since it’s impossible for me to shlep my G5, I’d like to just take my entire project on my FWHD, and use the company’s G5 when I get to my destination.

    The problem is:
My machine & project has Magic Bullet, Boris & Digital Heaven plug-ins – and the machine I’m going to be using won’t have those plug-ins installed.

Is there a way for me to bring my plug-ins with – and use/install them on the new machine?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

Read the licenses for each of those plugins. Most likely, they will require you to purchase new licenses if you want to install them on a 2nd machine. If the only Boris plugins you use are from Calligraphy, those are bundled with FCP, & Digital Heaven’s plugins are so cheap that it shouldn’t matter. But Boris Red, Continuum & Magic Bullet are all kinda pricey. Which mac will you be finishing the doc on? That’s the system that really needs the plugins.

You could clone your startup disk to an external firewire hard disk and use that as your startup disk at your destination. That way you’ll have everything that your home-based computer has.

Arnie, you’re right on there! If you are using the plugins on another persons’s machine, then the chances are the they’re not licenced for that machine and the online facility needs to buy copies for their machine if they are to remain legal.

Or since you are still editing your documentary, just cut it together
and worry about finishing plugins at the last stage.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to write in.

I’ve got a bit of a better picture now.

    Thanks,
