I’ll be using a GL2 to shoot a convention. My client wants to know whether there is a small playback deck so that one person could digitize while the other is shooting.

As my first post to this forum noted, I had problems with footage from this camera, when it was played back from a studio deck. The suggested solution was to use the shooting camera for playback — and that worked perfectly.

Is there a specific portable playback deck that works well with the tapes from a Canon GL2?

    Thanks!

[Bob Cole] “Is there a specific portable playback deck that works well with the tapes from a Canon GL2?”

    WHICH GL2?

By that I mean there is no specific deck that will work well with “any” GL2.
You need one that works well with YOUR camcorder.
(The individual unit’s head-alignment is the issue here.)

Just borrow ANY (even home video) DV camcorder or deck (borrow SEVERAL) and see how YOUR tapes play in each of them.
If you can find one that works, use it.

Trial and error is the only way to tell.
