    Hi,

I am having problems copying data from one drive to another. I am using 2 portable (USB powered) drives.

Certain QT video clips copy fine, whilst others stop half-way through and I get a failed message:”Error code 0″

I have tried renaming the files, changing their extensions, archiving/zipping and copying them one at a time but no luck.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

    Hi
    Mac OS error code 0
This error is commonly due to a file system problem on a target (destination) drive. It is typically indicative of an incompatibility, rather than a failure. The common cause is a single file (one movie, one text document, etc.) that exceeds the maximum file size supported by the file system.

Usually, this is seen when copying data to a hard disk formatted in the FAT32 (MS DOS) file system. The FAT32 file system supports a maximum single file size of 4GB. Attempting to copy a file larger than 4GB will result in error 0.

so….reformat your usb drives to mac format using disk utilitie in your utilities folder. also, how come you’re not using firewire hard drives? Much better, even works as media drives for SD FCP projects. You have to format these for Macs as well. Good luck!

    Thanks for the help.

Re: Dino – We use the USB drives for redundant back-ups only – not really for actual editing.

    All the best,
