Portable drive “File Format Not Supported”
Hey amigos,
I use Mac Finder 10.8.5 to copy media files to a portable drive. Try to open the project in PP 7.2.2. Try to connect/search offline files to the portable drive, get immediately the error msg “File Format Not Supported” Any tips? Many thanks.

Is the machine you have moved to also a Mac?
What is the file type in question that is creating the error?
System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF. -
Thanks Jon. I haven’t moved machines, just copied media file folders to a portable drive so I can edit on the road. Using the “reconnect media” process in PP I get this error immediately.
Now usually I point PP to search a folder that contains the media files instead of the individual files themselves. Maybe there are other files in the folder that PP doesn’t like on this drive. I’ll look into this.

After further investigation, it seems the error message “File Format Not Supported” is returned by PP if I point to a folder during a search that does not contain a media file. Confusing response when trying to search for a media file, but OK if you know what it means.
