We are going to be shipping large number of files back an forth by way of Fedex, so was looking for a tough, very reliable portable (bus powered) hard drive. Looking at Glyph Portagig 50 and Rocstor products. Any recommendations for a drive to ship back and forth?

    bubble wrap.
Any drive – even a bare drive with no case – will survive a FedEx small box, as long as you bubble wrap it.

-but first wrap the hard drive in aluminum foil to prevent static electricity generation. Fred Jodry

If you are planning on shipping a bare drive you should think about getting a protective “anti-static” case and wrapping that in bubble wrap. The case will run you an extra $10 but worth the price if do not want the added risk.

A good anti-static bag wrapped in bubble wrap would also do the trick.

You could also consider using an ordinary 2.5 FW800 or USB 3 external drive and put it into a Lacy Tank

I have a few and would have no issues transporting Data in one.. assuming you have a back up.
