I am using Vegas 9c on a Dell XPS Studio i7/6gb ram/raid 0 disk computer yet still am having issues with simple processes. I routinely run norton, diskeeper, etc. Oddly, when I monitor system performance, CPU usage is very low, as disk access is reasonable, and RAM is very low…(about 1.5gb typical).yet even zooms on still jepgs and PNG’s are stuttering on playback. Even mouse functions (zoom wheel and mouse pointer) seem hampered. I cant realistically view a project without rendering it first as any transition jerks and stutters. The only software related to Vegas is Raylight which I use to import MXF files from my P2 cards. I tried various setup preferences and nothing seems to make any difference. I feel I have plenty of computer, especially for SD editing, so Im very frustrated. Thoughts are appreciated.

Disable Norton (a real resource hog!!) and see if that helps.

I have norton disabled so it does not run the background..only when
I enable it manually. Also, the resource monitor is not indicating that there is a cpu or memory issue. From my research, poor preview performance seems to be typical with at least Vegas 9….I have
downloaded the trail of Premier to see if I get the same result.

Also, if I run Windows Media Player then go back to Vegas, the timeline wont play. I have to close and re-open Vegas to regain control, so it appears that is some conflict cause this and the very poor preview performance.
