Poor Quality Renders And Playback
This has to be something super simple I’m overlooking. I am working on an HDV 960 x 720 29.97 sequence with HDV source footage, some of which has been keyed in AE and rendered out with the animation codec.
Here is the problem. When the play head is stopped in the timeline, footage is “paused”, it looks great, blacks are back, lines are crisp and it’s artifact free. As soon as I play the footage in the timeline, or, render out a quicktime (not a quicktime conversion, just straight quicktime) it looks like the quality is dropped substantially. The blacks turn a grey, like the contrast was brought way down. I get awful blocky artifacts in the keyed footage, not in the edges, but in the footage, especially the blacks (like blocks of pixels shifting location on every frame).
I have to be missing something totally obvious, but I’m on a tight deadline and can’t figure it out. Thanks so much for any help!
