I just acquired Final Cut Pro X and I’m having trouble achieving the video quality I want in my project. When I import a video it looks fine in the viewer, however when i add it to the timeline, the quality diminishes greatly. For example, two clips I’m using are .mov files, one is an Unknown MPEG Layer 3 format and the other is H.264. I have set the project to 1080p HD, resolution 1920×1080 and the rate is 23.98p. No matter what, the quality of the clips are greatly degraded when put into the timeline and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’ve tried converting them using compressor to Pro Res, but nothing makes a difference.

Please help… Keep in mind that I’m very new to this program and I’m not extraordinarily tech savvy.
