I need to make a polygon selection invisible in the render.
I could just delete it, but it also strangely deletes other polygons in the areas where I want it left whole. (Huh?)
What I mean is, when I select the polygons and delete them, polygons seem to disapear from the other areas of the model, making the textures look like crap. Even though the polygons that disapear dont look to be highlighted.
But anyhoo, the easiest way would be a tag or something to make the polygons invisible when rendering.
    thanks in advance
    Simon

Also new to this, so I don’t know if there’s a way to hide polygons from rendering, but it sounds like your problem has to do with a little checkbox in Attributes Manager called “Only Select Visible Elements” when the Live Selection tool is chosen. Try ticking that box and see if you still have the problem with weird polygons being selected.

Thanks for the reply, but no, thats not it. The disapearing polygons are in a totally different area, well away from the selection tool…

    Anyone else?

You can hide polygons from rendering by assigning them a material with a white alpha channel. Create the material, then select the polygons and drag the material onto the object. Cinema will automatically create a polygon selection tag and assign the material to it.

Not sure why you’re having the selection problem. Maybe some weird issue with imported geometry?
