  • Pocket Wizard to trigger video in 5D or 7D?

Posted by Kyle Decker on June 4, 2010 at 4:37 pm

I am anxiously waiting for a radio frequency remote that pocket wizard releases which allows you to remotely trigger video with a distance greater than a few feet. I shoot action sports and often use my 7D as my second lockoff angle, but I am running back and forth between cameras every time someone tries a trick. Given the fact that it may take all day for someone to get a shot thats alot of running. Anyone have any suggestions?

There are wired releases. Other folks like JAG35 and Zacutto are working on these too

The RC-1 and RC-5 wireless remotes will trigger stills OR video from a 5d. I’d imagine the same works for the 7d.

If you need more “reach” there are a lot of wireless RC extender systems out there.

Also check out the Photex Cleon II which might be what you were originally looking for. I believe they’re shipping now.

Do a search under “Canon 7d remote control” and see what happens.
