I am using Photoshop to create my transparency

What’s the difference between saving my image as a
PSD image with an alpha channel for transparency
TGA still with an alpha channel for transparency
    PNG with a transparent background

Is one a benefit over another or is it just a matter
    of preference?

pIllusion’s PSD support is not very good — it loads old (3.0 I think) PSDs only, and doesn’t support alpha channel in them.

I would suggest TGA or PNG.

    Thanks Alan,

I always save my transparency images as PNG (transparent background, no alpha channel) but I noticed in tutorials that people saved in other formats with alpha channels. Wasn’t sure if I was missing something but apparently I’m not!

    Alan,

Sorry to bring up this old post, but do you know if PSD support will be improved in the newer version of pi3 for Windows? Or maybe once pi4 is released? Will PSD support be at least updated to Photoshop v7.

    Thanks,
    -Francois

The real question is: how important is improved PSD support to you, especially when compared to every other feature that you’d want added to pI?

    Alan.
