  • PNG file won’t work.

Hi, I’m making a video on a tight deadline. My client gave me several png files for lower thirds. For some reason these files won’t show up in my preview window, but at random times they do. I can drag them onto the timeline just fine and see them in the trimmer window, but on the timeline sometimes I can see the lower third sometimes it turns red?? I tested to see if they will render, and they don’t. I’ve used other png files without any problem. I’ve tried playing with several of the settings, but nothing seems to work. Any advice??

Yup, “sheep-dip” a few through your graphics package, using a Save As Copy PNG in the format that you know that works with Vegas, and be done with ’em! Make sure you have the same resolution as your client’s. But that’s my way. If it doesn’t work, don’t blame me!

I would advise you to drop them in photoshop if you
have it and save them as different files all together,
then use those…..Maybe those png’s arent too healthy.
Doing what i suggest should clear things up.

Thanks guys, I actually dropped them in Paint of all programs. I resaved them as png and lost the trasparency. However, I was able to key out the white background and it turned out great.

    Thanks for the suggestions!!

Steve, if PNGs were used before, then that was the route I was offering. However, if that doesn’t work then choose another graphic format, PSDs are good too.

How do you know you lost the trannie part? You may need to re-activate the ALPHA channel in Vegas, in the Media Properties. You really shouldn’t need to remove the “white” part?

    Cheers

Wow! There you go . . .Paint doesn’t preserve the trannie . . I didn’t know that. I do now.

    Thanks Preston.
