PMW-F3 1080 25p problem

The KiPro is displaying the input it is given. Most likely the output of the F3 is psf, which means it is an interlaced stream (with progressive content in it). You will need to flag the files after you capture as p (or no field dominance). I haven’t worked with the F3 yet so I am unsure of the output options for SDI. I am not sure if you can get a true p output in single link mode; most likely not, but crazier things have happened. It’s not the Ki’s fault.

The Ki Pro and Ki Pro Mini auto-detect incoming video format and frame rate. Having stated that, it should be noted that 1080PsF 25 and 1080i 25 appear the same “over-the-wire” with HD-SDI signals. The solution, if the source video is 1080PsF 25, and a 1080 progressive recording with no field dominance is desired, is to enter the CONFIG menu parameter 1.1 Record Type and select “PsF” from the list. This will produce a recording without field dominance (otherwise, if “Normal” was selected for Record Type, a file with Upper Field dominance, would be produced).

Duh. Of course! Normal to PsF. If you have already recorded material that was flagged as i, you can use JES Extensifier to change the field dom metadata flag.
