We finally made the switch from FCP to Premiere and am loving the program. Had to also get the new version of PluralEyes 3 to complete my workflow. Problem is that it ALWAYS hangs and freezes when I import XML files from my premiere timeline or use connector. My timeline is 30 minutes with 2 DSLR cameras at 24p H264 and one zoom recorder. My mac basically writes it off as “not responding” but if I do wait 10-15 minutes it sometimes loads in all the footage but sometimes it just stays hanging.
My computer is an 8 core with 24gigs of ram.

I have an older version of pluraleyes for premiere and although it is slower to analyze the footage it imports the XML files instantly.

One other thing that creates a deep void of sadness is that when I used Pluraleyes for Final Cut Pro with 5D Proress transcoded footage it was Flawless: It synced even the toughest clips. Now when I sync with H264 footage it seems to only work sometimes. Other times it syncs completely random clips that don’t sound the same at all. (Out of our footage – An interview on the 5D audio track and a noisy drone engine from the H4N audio track.)

Are you using PluralEyes V3.0 which is a stand alone application? Or are you using v2.0 which is a plugin inside of Premiere Pro?

No wishing to hijack this thread but I am having a similar problem. I have W7-64, PPCS6.0.3 and am trialing Pluraleyes windows version with PP plugin 2.0.7 (8433).

I am trying a real simple test, GH2 MTS clip with camera sound and Zoom H4n WAV for close sound. I put the WAV below the clip on the sequence, nothing else on the sequence and via Extensions run Pluraleyes. The returned sequence puts the WAV at the start of the timeline and the clip after it. So totally out of sync. Sound on camera clip is ok to hear the same audio as recorded on the H4n but pluraleyes does not even recognise the sync audio.

So simple sync not working for me either.

Use PluralEyes 3.0. Much better, much faster and works with any NLE.

V3.0 is a standalone application that exports XML’s out to whatever NLE you want. It’s no longer a plugin. A free 30 day trial is available.

I don’t think Plurayeyes 3 is out for Windows yet?

You are correct! My apologies. It appears v3.0 is in development for the PC. I guess it’s time to Mac then! 😉

As for your problem it may be that PluralEyes can’t match the waveforms (background noise, recorded too low, recorded too hot). I’ve had it fail on stuff that it shouldn’t. Unfortunately, it seems like it either works or it doesn’t. Do you have the “Try Harder” option checked? Or that the clips are in “chronological order”? Those options may help it narrow down and get something in sync for you.

Hi Errol, I’m having a very similar problem with Pluraleyes hanging. Did you ever figure out a fix?

    Thanks

I’m having the same issue. Do you guys think that PluralEyes can simply become overwhelmed by too much footage? I have three different cameras for a shoot we did of a 3-4 hour conference.

I just upgraded to Creative Cloud and after re-installing Pluraleyes I am having the same problem. It took almost 10 min for PE to import a 3 min test sequence using 2 cameras. Only 4 clips. Something is not right…

    Hey guys,

I’m learning that Plural Eyes can’t really handle MTS files. I used MPEG stream clip and converted my MTS files to quicktime. Then, from within Plural eyes, I started a new sync and had success. THe drawback is that if you have MTS files, it is probably because they are very long in duration. When streamclip converts them to quicktime they become huge! I had a 4 GB MTS file that turned into a 45GB quicktime. Pluraleyes can work with them, but now my hard drive is just about out of space.

If you are in a bind, however, this should work. Download the stream clip application if you don’t have it, it is free and really useful. Adobe Media Encoder should be able to do batch conversions as well.
