plugins
Posted by Natasha Paulson on March 22, 2009 at 12:48 amI downloaded some free plugins (video transitions and whatnot) online for Final Cut Pro. I used to use a friend’s computer and would just go to Library > Application Support > Plugins and drop them there. I just got a MacBook Pro and there is no Final Cut folder in Application Support to drop my plugins. Is there anywhere else I can put these so they will show up in Final Cut?

March 22, 2009 at 2:38 amHi Natasha,
You are looking in home/library/applications support.
But is not that library where you have to search.
Look for: System HD/Library/Application support/Final Cut..

March 22, 2009 at 7:10 pmNatasha – unless it makes a difference what OSX/FCP ver. it still looks like you’re correct. On my Mac Pro: OSX ver.: 10.4.11 (Tiger), FCS2 / FCP ver. 6.0.5, here is the path for plug-ins:
Macintosh HD > Application Support > Final Cut Pro System Support > Plugins > (Boris, Noise Industries, etc.)
I’ve thought about upgrading to Leopard, at least for the benefit of Compressor, etc. but there are things on Tiger like the way you can preview in the finder; play / stop / move the scrubber, etc. and in Leopard it sucks to have to get the play arrow in the icon of the file you might want to preview, but unable to move forward or backward – plus there’s a lot more too.
I’m on Leopard on my macbook pro that I use at home, and it is nice to have it on that since it’s only a Core Duo – etc. I hope I haven’t misinformed you. good luck. -s

March 22, 2009 at 11:47 pmA couple of things..
First with Noise Industries plugins, the easiest way to remove them is via the FxFactory application.
Secondly, next time you are previewing a clip in the finder in Leopard, hit the space bar and see what happens 🙂 I HATE previewing clips in Tiger now
