Plugin to make blurry areas even more blurry?
Is there an AE plugin or something else to make blurry areas more blurry automatically? There is certainly a coding technique that could accomplish such a task by finding which areas are more fuzzy than others. I’d be surprised if no one has created such a plugin to do so yet.
It will be a useful plug-in for my music performance recordings in my back-facing performer shots to make the crowd even more blurry than they already are to respect their privacy.
It would also look great artistically in a lot of shots for someone that can’t afford special lenses or cameras that can focus deeply while deeply blurring unfocused areas.

Smart Blur essentially does that. Set the threshold very high.

I will try it but I’m not sure if Smart Blur will leave the sharp foreground objects completely alone, if I’m correct? It’d be nice it it just operated on the blurry areas. I’ll try it anyway. Thanks!

Theoretically you could do it with this plug-in, generating a depth map and using lens blur:

That is just based on the description of the plug-in. I haven’t used it. But you could download a demo and see if it actually can create a depth map. I’d be interested to know whether it does.
