  • Plugin conflicts with 5.1.1?

Posted by Chris Poisson on July 31, 2006 at 3:54 pm

On my G5 dual 2gig with 4.5 gigs of RAM, I run the following:

    Continuum Complete
    DVmattePro,
    Gfilm
    Natress 1&2
    Telly’s
    TMTS
    Silhouette Roto
    Eureka!

And a few others, but anybody using these with v 5.1.1?

    Have a wonderful day.

Borris has a Continuum Complete patch for 5.1. After install you have to launch FCP with the Caps Lock on. Then exit and launch again with the Caps Lock off. If you don’t applied Continuum filters will be missing the controls in the filters tab. Launching with Caps Lock a one-time only requirement after you install the patch.

Basically, any plugin that is built in FXScript should run in 5.1 without change; FXScript is processor-independent. So, Natress, GFilm, Eureka!, Telly’s and others like Joes Filters & my Lyric Media plugins should work unchanged. Any plugins written in C or C++, such as those that use the AfterEffects plugin loader in FCP, may not work particularly on an Intel Mac.

    Whoa,

That begs the question, since I have (and love) your PanZoomPro plugin in my FCP, (sorry I forgot to mention) will that still work if I go to 5.1? Note it’s not an Intel Mac, just a plain ole’ 2 Gig G5.

    Have a wonderful day.

Yes Chris, it should work just fine in 5.1, Intel or PowerPC. Apple doesn’t change FXScript often and certainly not so much as to break all their existing FXScript filters, transitions & generators, which means 3rd-party FXScript plugins are carried along for the ride.

    Cheers,
    John.
