  • Plug-In Video FX Control Problems, Tried everything even reinstalling and uninstalling

Hello my name is Kyle and I am having issues with Sony Vegas Pro 12. I tried uninstalling using CCleaner and cleaning the registries and delete the folders, but for some reason some of the plugins still don’t work. For 1.) the new text and titles seemed to be malfunctioning and doesn’t properly show the titles and fonts 2.) I want to use soft contrast, but the controls are all missing. I tried installing a new DirectX 10 that didn’t work, various codecs still no problem. Sony Vegas seems to be working, but I really want to use those Video output FX problem. I tried looking all over the web all day. No clue what is going on or why if I uninstall it the plugins still don’t work, do I have to delete registry keys that CCleaner isn’t finding.

I attached some pictures to show what I am trying to say.

Do anyone experience similar problems or know how to solve it?

    Thank you,

    Kyle

restore back the registry backup you did before running CCleaner, sometimes this type of registry cleaners software can break your system by deleting “key” keys… before trying to clean your registry is always advisable to do a full OS backup just in case, at least a full registry backup, good luck.

    Hello Kyle,
Definitely a very strange problem. You made the correct steps with uninstalling/reinstalling and deleting the registry keys (before the reinstall). It sounds like there are other registry entries that may be causing this, and these registry entries were not removed by the Cleaner due to them being in a different location. You should uninstall Vegas again (back up any projects first) and delete the Sony folder from your system, then have a look at the Registry. You can easily go into the registry by typing: regedit into your ‘Run’ prompt. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click on SOFTWARE. I would delete any entry that is associated with video codecs/creation/editing EXCEPT any Microsoft entries- leave those alone. I’ll bet you’ll find a few items that will probably need to be deleted: items from past trial software, old versions, etc. However, if you’re not sure about something, PLAY IT SAFE and leave it there (or better yet, post it in this thread for input).

Hopefully this will fix your issue after you reinstall. You should install from the latest build on Sony’s site. The above is much easier/faster than an OS reinstall.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave

Kyle, Sony has specific instructions for doing this on their site.

SCORE! Thank you everyone who posted and ideas. I installed the latest Sony Vegas Version .563. I’d figured there were Remnants of Sony Vegas in the Registry Key just didn’t know where. Mike’s Post was what done it.

My computer Crashed 3 weeks ago, and it might have messed up the registry a bit.

The link doesn’t work, but I took of the % sign at the end and it worked: https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4844/kw/uninstall/session/L3RpbWUvMTM2NzMzMzY5Ny9zaWQvOGJqaHMqb2w

I don’t know if me deleting the registries in the WOW6432 did the trick.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Media Software

I also decided to uninstall: Microsoft .NET Framework versions, and the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable software and did the update.

I was a little worried that I had to restore my entire computer, but it takes time reinstalling all these production programs I have. Probably at least 2 weeks, something I was not looking forward to.

Thank you everybody for your ideas, they helped a bunch!

Also if anyone is having plug-in problems, I recommend using the step in the link above!

    Take care.

    Kyle

Hello all. I just wanted to update on the status of this problem. Frustratingly the problem still showed up as uinstalling and reinstalling was a temporary fix. I also use Adobe Premiere and it gives me the BSOD with an NVIDIA issue, I ended up fixing and updating the correct driver, as for some reason NIVIDIA tells me to download the wrong one and along with the update which seems to have bugs. So after installing an update to the video driver all problems are solved including the video FX problems with SONY VEGAS and the crashing with ADOBE PREMIERE.

So if you know anyone else with similar problems I suggest checking the video drivers. I thought it was my monitor causing me issues turns out my computer just installed the wrong driver.

    Thanks.
