I have upgraded from AE7 to CS3 and am trying to use the Plug Ins i’ve purchased in the new version. I moved folders from the AE7 plug in folder to the CS3 plug in folder but no luck. Is this the correct thing to do?

    Am I missing something?

you may need to try to find updates to the plugins. check with the software companies that made them, many are free updates, some may be upgrades where they added something new, and of course charge you at an upgrade price. some unfortuantely seem to be lost forever…

if you lost the plugins due to upgrading from ae7 to cs3 on an intel mac, you can probably get use of those plugins back by running cs3 under rosetta (the same way ae7 ran on an intel mac). there are some draw backs to this, so i don’t recommend it for fulltime use, but it can be helpful, particularly with old projects.

to do this, select the ae cs3 application and choose file>get info. check the box that says run under rosetta. this will force ae to run the powerpc version of cs3 rather than the intel version, and you should get your old plugins back.
