plug-in to smooth shaky picture
Posted by Bret Latter on August 12, 2006 at 7:01 pmI have seen in the past plug-ins to help smooth out shaky footage.
I can not find it now that I need it. Does any one know of a location for this plug-in?
I’m on a FCP 5.04 machine.Thanks,

August 12, 2006 at 8:00 pmIt’s called Shake. The motion stabilization in Shake is ridiculous and at $499 it’s about the price of a plug-in.

August 12, 2006 at 9:05 pm[Chris Poisson] “istabilize is good.”
Ditto.
Its amazing (and MUCH cheaper than $500).
(OTOH, Shake is good for much MORE than just this, however.)

August 13, 2006 at 2:32 pmYou know, I have the Boris filters and I have yet to use the stabilizer but it probably rocks, as do all those BCC filters. Funny, as much as I like them I hate most other Boris products.
But to another point made here, Commotion Pro has one of the most bitchin’ trackers I have ever used, so it might be a bargain on eBay or somewhere, but AE has caught up with it it would seem, but one cool thing about Commotion is you can export the tracking data and use it in AE, which is really cool.
But iStabilize is probably all you need.

Have you guys seen the Shake stabilization? What they showed at NAB was absolutely amazing for camera stabilization and for $499, it’s a great price.

August 13, 2006 at 7:14 pmShake, I’d love to Walter, but another long learning curve??
Also aren’t they selling it off as there’s something new coming along (and another learning curve I suspect)

August 13, 2006 at 7:49 pmI don’t have any experience with it, but for $69 there’s the Motion Tracker Collection from CVH, a set of Final Cut plug-ins that includes a stabilizer.

August 13, 2006 at 8:24 pmOK, I don’t want to belabor this (well, yes I do!)
“iStabilize” is an AMAZING image stabilizer and it costs $59.
(Yes, that’s one dollar less than $60.)
I’ve used it to save footage I took from a 50-foot cherry-picker arm’s basket in a high wind.
Click on the following link and view the demos and THEN we can talk “price-to-performance” value.

Pretty cool demo’s too!
