i know that this has been posted before, but the outcome was for a single color object that wasnt moving. just like the following link which i grabbed from a prior search on this forum:

    https://www.geniusdv.com/weblog/archives/pleasantville_effect_for_avid.php

what i was wondering how to do was to make a multi-colored, moving object (people walking) and make them and not the background B&W. and attempting to do all this on an avid newscutter without the aid of after effects.

    is something like this possible?
if so, how hard is it?

without animating masks, you are tied to just keying in some color, man. You will get some interesting effects by using a color effect on v1 and pulling the saturation all the way down and then keying some colors on v2 but to get what you are wanting, you will need to animate some masks.
You don’t have animatte so AE is where ya otta be headin’.

draw a mask around your pricipal. set a keyframe where ay drew it. Tou can add keyframes as needed. Much like animated masks in AE, just less control.
