please, what settings to improve video quality

How do you expect people to watch them? That will determine how you need to render them. Did you really mean Video CD (VCD)? I don’t think many DVD players can even play the anymore. Besides, a CD is only 700MB. That’s not going to hold a hour of good quality video (VCD is rather poor quality).

You might be better off creating DVD’s so they can watch them in their DVD players on their TV. A regular DVD only holds 80 minutes so 60 minutes is practically an entire DVD so I doubt you want to use CD’s for this.

i thank you for your kind reply

the reason i want to burn video cd’s is because the people from the local charity club have those cdr’s (intenso black x48)

as far i know video cd’s can be played by almost all home dvd players

the video quality of the files i have in my hands is not great and i suspect that some of them are downloaded from youtube (interviews, documentaries) .flv format

the duration of those video files is not exceeding 60-68 minutes

yes, i know that vcd have lower quality than dvd

i will try to burn a dvd to see if the video quality will be better than the original file

please, you can advice if my settings can improve even by a little the video quality

I usually start with Levels, Color Corrector, and Color Curves in that order. I would open the Video Scopes and use the Waveform Monitor to make sure that your whites and blacks and between 0 and 100. Expend them if they are too low and contract them if they are outside those limits. Then use the Color Corrector to adjust any off colors and perhaps boost the saturation a bit to make washed out colors look better. Then finally use the Color Curves to add an ‘S’ curve to crush the blacks and whites a bit. This will make is look a bit more film-like which is what you are going for. It’s very difficult in a forum post to explain how to enhance the look of video. It’s something people dedicate a lot of time to learning and there really is no quick fix but using those three filters should get it looking better.

i thank you so much for your kind reply and for infos you gave me

i will try the settings you have suggested me

frankly speaking i do not like too much saturation and contrast and too much shiny picture

even when i watch tv i prefer the muted colors

i always prefer something like muted colors since i believe it’s closed to life-like color

You’re welcome. The point is that the Color Corrector can be used to give you whatever look you are looking for whether saturated or muted.
