The timeline says: no sequence.
You have to make a sequence first.
Go to file/new/sequence and pick a preset that matches the footage.
But those are Lynda.com files, right?
Open one of the projects in the exercise files.

Thanks for that tip regarding making a sequence. That step was actually covered in a previous tutorial (as you probably know) but for some reason, I became logged out of Lynda at some point so whenever I hit the ‘next video’ button it just took me to the next ‘free example’ video. So I ended up jumping way ahead of where I was. At any rate, back on track now and will not double post in the future. Have a good weekend.
