Hi everyone I have a BIG problem. I’m trying to capture into Final Cut Pro 6.1 from a Panasonic AJ HD1400 and it’s controlling the VTR and timecode but not previewing video and, when I go to capture video, saying “This operation could not be completed as there is no video”.

The same thing in iMovie; can control the deck but no pictures. The footage is shot at 24p / 720prog on DVCPRO tapes, shot on a Panasonic varicam camera, and I’m pretty sure the tape deck’s output settings are all correct.

I have this deck hired in just for today and need to capture this footage urgently so any suggestions gratefully accepted.

    Thanks

    Rose

Are you set up for DVCPro HD 720/24 in FCP?

Ensure the deck is not downconverting the signal via Firewire.

Ensure the deck is set up to 23/24 for the Frame Rate.

Make sure you are using the proper Easy Setup (don’t try to change your settings manually).

If you are convinced you have the correct Easy Setup and its still not working, check to make sure your menu settings on the deck are correct (e.g., it may be set to downconvert instead of HD output). If the deck you rented did not come with a manual, you should call the rental house and have someone walk you through it.
