First, use A.Pack (an application that should be on your machine) to turn those AIFF files into AC3 files. That will save some space.

Then try doing a 2-pass VBR at:
    4.5 and 6

See if those two things get you closer. If not, adjust the numbers slightly and try again. It’s all trial-and-error with this kind of stuff.

If you use Compressor, I’m pretty sure that will give you an estimated File Size when you set up an MPEG-2 to be created.

    could not use a pack
chose to do 1 pass at 3.7 or so
    it is being created now
    will the image be visible?
they are wanting dvds from a offling photo jpeg seq.
    i exported to 720 X 480 .mov
and re-rendered this in a sequence.
what should i do if this mpeg does not work?
should i break up sequence and put on separate dvds?
please help this is just a very difficult situation. thanks for your assistance.

Why can’t you use the A. Pack? It comes with DVD Studio Pro 2 and 3 and is highly recommended for DVD’s. If you create .AC3 audio file, it’s usually about 1/4 the size of an AIFF file.
