To avoid these issues in the future, make your critical renders into exporting numerical sequence renders instead of exporting a movie. This way, if it crashes, you have every frame right up to the one where it crashed. Not only will it give you the security of knowing your work is there but you will also have an audit trail to follow to isolate where the issue occurs that is causing your problem.
