    Hello Vegas Users

I am in the middle of editing a video when for some reason my playback locked. I tried shutting down and restarting but it won’t lock. I thought it had something to do with that pesky loop feature that might be set on such a small place but I can’t see that. Even when I press the ‘play from start’ button it just won’t move.

When I place the cursor on the timeline it isn’t the usualy white line – it does look like a very thin grey line (makes me think this is a loop problem)?

Anyone have any ideas? I’m short for time and would so greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer.

    Many thanks
    Heidi
p.s. I am using vegas 4.0 if that matters.

    To further explain.
It seems that it will play for 2 frames then stop. It doesn’t matter where on the timeline I click to play from it will only play for two frames.

I tried cutting and pasting the video into a new vegas project and the same thing happened.
I also tried deleting each track one by one to see if it was something set with a track, but I still had the same problem.

    …???…..

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Heidi

p.s. I am almost done this video after days of editing – just this morning I was thinking I should be saving a back up file (which I usually do). I can’t believe I was that daft not to. rrrgggg.

Well, just thought I’d add to this post in case anyone does a search due to this same problem.

I have no clue why or how but the project would only play 2 frames at a time, anywhere on the timeline.

After 2 hours of fretting and testing, closing and re-opening vegas and files. I decided to turn off the computer. When I turned it back on everything was fine.
    ? go figure.

Just thought I would add to the post in case anyone was researching an answer or if this happens to anyone else.

    Thanks – happy editing all.

Sounds a bit like the “sync cursor with RAM preview issue”…. but I don’t think that problem happened unless you were trying to do a ram preview. The issue is whenever you have the sync cursor enabled (in V5 definitely) and you tried to select a loop and then do a RAM preview it would only ever display 2 frames of the selected loop (sound familiar?). The solution was to turn off Sync Cursor and then do your RAM preview. This seems to be fixed in V6b.

    Thanks Liam

You’re always so knowledgable about Vegas.

Hopefully one day I’ll be able to help out more on the forum, instead of always asking the questions.

    Cheers
    Heidi

Glad I could help. I’m just “paying it forward”. 99.99% of what I post is simply something I learned from someone else anyway.
