PLEASE HELP ME OUTPUT!
So, I have a Kona SD…I know that this is the BMD forum, but this card is still using the BMD drivers. I have recently installed Tiger, FCP5, and the newest decklink drivers. Everything has been working great, but I just tried to layoff using Edit to Tape for the first time with this setup and when I review the tape it does not play back correctly. Things seem to be freezing and skipping. When it is laying off, the Edit To Tape window looks fine though. Anyone have any idea what could be happening?

This is the right place to post Kona SD questions as we’ve maintained support for the Kona SD in our drivers. You can find a technical note with the latest information about the Kona SD drivers.
Can you please verify that your system, including software versions, matches the DeckLink Minimum System Requirements for Mac OS X for Tiger?
If so, can you provide a few more details about your system setup, eg dual processor G5/2.0 with PCI-X slots, Apple Xserve RAID, Kona SD in slot 3, Fiber Channel card in slot 4, no other PCI cards installed, outputting to Digitbeta.
If you monitor the output of the card, does it also show problems similar to what you see when you play back the tape?
I’ve been tracking an issue which 2 other Kona SD users have reported and you can review the thread at Kona SD and G5 issue. In their case, they have problems with Edit to Tape in 8 and 10 bit uncompressed but more problems with 10 bit. They don’t see the problem on a G4 running Tiger but only on a G5 running Tiger. They don’t see problems running Panther on the G5 but only when they update to Tiger on the G5. We have not been able to replicate this exact same behavior but did find a QuickTime issue which we’ve reported to Apple and believe it related to their problems. Please have a read through the thread and see if it sounds like your problem. If so, we need to work out why 3 Kona SD users are seeing this problem but we haven’t received similar reports from others.

Thank you for your quick response. I have a Dual 2ghz G5 with 2 gigs of ram. There is a scsi card in slot 4 and the Kona SD card in slot 3. I am not sure when this computer was bought, and do not know if the slots are PCI-X. We are hooked into digibeta decks. When I use edit to tape things look like they are laying off fine in the edit to tape window during layoff, but when I review the tape from the deck to a broadcast monitor is when I see that it has layed off incorrectly. As far as I can tell, the setup seems to be capturing fine. I was able to monitor on the broadcast as I edit, but I reinstalled fcp5 last night (as indicated on the bmd support page) and now the broadcast monitor only updates when I pause on a frame. I do not know if I need to uninstall FCP? I only reinstalled it without wiping the computer of FCP first. I do not know what the correct procedure is to uninstall fcp, and the apple site no longer has instructions as it once did for 4.5 . I will check out those other posts. Any suggestions would be appreciated (though I would hate to have to do a clean install of Tiger).Thank you,

I tried using the blackmagic deck control and I got a solid/smooth playback in the ntsc monitor…but still nothing to the deck.

I have just realized that audio is not working for either output or capture. I have not need to capture anything with audio since I have upgrade (if you can call it that) my system.

I lied…sometimes it plays smooth with the Deck Control, but other times it sticks and jumps. Darn.
