  • PLEASE HELP: Illustrator CS2 – Can’t print “BLACK” BLACKS…

Posted by Joey Morelli on April 21, 2006 at 3:38 am

    Hi Folks,

Hopefully something simple. I have Illustrator CS2 / Mac OS 10.4.5 / HP Deskjet 1220C (new ink carts – cleaned & prepped).

I am simply typing a single work in black type on a 8 1/2 x 14 (legal) artboard and the color is printing GRAY. Color Settings are RGB (tried CMYK – doesn’t work either).
Color settings are “North American General Purpose 2” (tried a few different ones…same result).

I use to be able to print a simple black text resume in super black…now all my blacks are gray (still hi rez & sharp, just the wrong color).

Please help…deadline looming in the AM 🙁

Thanx so much in advance 🙂

    Joey

In order to print BLACK blacks, you need to add some C and M in CMYK to form rich black. In CS2, there is actually a preference setting to display the difference between normal and rich black.
    THe greyish print is normal.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers
