Please Help: 10 bit DPX Output from After Effects 7?
Posted by Pomophobe on August 16, 2006 at 1:41 pmHey all… I am wondering if anyone help. I am trying to output 10 bit DPX from AfterEffects 7 Pro to go to Online a film. Already tried 16 bit, the party recieving the Reels cannot handle the 16 and have asked for 10.
Any help?

January 10, 2008 at 8:03 pmPeter, let me first say that reading all your posts about DPX files has been extremely helpful in understanding more about this format. Even your suggestion in another post about reading Stu Maschwitz’s blog on AE7 and Linear color workflow was invaluable. (prolost.blogspot.com in case anyone else wants to peruse it)
Now, to my understanding, when you are ready to render the DPX sequence in AE certain things need to happen. You need to be in 32-bit (float) workspace. Then drop your finished comp into a new comp. Apply the Color Profile Converter effect to a new adjustment layer in this new comp. Leave Input Profile set to “Project Working Space”. Set Output Profile to “DPX Scene – Standard Camera Film”. Then render the comp using “Cineon sequence” with DPX checked. Correct?

January 10, 2008 at 8:41 pmHello Robert I am glad my posts have been of use. Did you read my recently posted article about cineon files?
I don’t use the same workflow as Stu.
I avoid the colour profile converter effect because sometimes it changes the colour of the pixels a bit.https://newsletters.creativecow.net/newsletters/2008/01-07/index.html

January 10, 2008 at 10:45 pmI glanced over it at the beginning of my quest to understand YUV vs. RGB. But now that I know a whole lot more about DPX and such, I shall give it a thorough read.
