We should start an interlacing/deinterlacing forum.

Anyway, what do you guys do with mixed footage?

I am working with interlaced (60i) footage in Premiere and I always render to non-interlaced (flash) using Premiere’s Adobe Media Encoder to render and deinterlace.

If I add an After Effects graphic composition, which was made non-interlaced, to my Premiere project and then deinterlace the whole thing when I render out of Premiere, won’t that screw up the AE comp?

I know why this happens, I am just looking for suggestions as I am working out my new workflow.

To me, It’s pretty simple. If you are going to the web, you should de-interlace, since the loss of quality doesn’t make much of a difference.

For anything that has at least 30% of interlaced footage, I work in interlaced timeline. If I’m in charge of the production, it’s going to be progressive.
