  • Playing and Converting XDCam Quicktime Files without FCP or Sony Software

I’m working with someone who is using FCP 5.0.4 and someone else is working with Adobe Premiere CS4. They’re not able to work with my XDCam files that I wrapped in the Quicktime Container. They have several terrabytes of the footage, and it’s best for them to convert the files on their end, rather than me going back to the BPAV files and rewrapping them.

I’ve found MPEG streamclip to be the fastest way to convert files into MP4 format, and I’m recommending this option to them since the final output works well on both their systems.

However, there doesn’t seem to be a way that they can both convert the files on their systems without the proper codecs. Is there a codec available, or another way around this?

You need at least FC 6.0.2 installed to play EX-1 files.
A solution: Transcode to PhotoJPEG at 75% quality.
    Great quality and small files.
Will play even in PC with QT.
    Best,

You really need to pick just one NLE to work with. I suggest the CS4, the original raw files work with CS4 and there is no rewrapping. The older FCP will not work as the codec support started with 6.02.

    Good Luck
