Playing 25p footage in Quicktime
This may be outside of the FCP realm. But I’m trying to play some Sony HDV 25p footage in Quicktime to do logging according to native timecode. When I try to launch one of the clips in Quicktime, it says “Additional components are needed.” Clicking CONTINUE leads me to the Quicktime website with no indication of what components to obtain.
The clip will play, but only the sound – it shows a black screen.
Any ideas?

Look in main/Library/Quicktimes.
You should have over there an “Apple HDV Component” to be able to read and write to this format.
