I know this is just a simple setting and I accidentally clicked on something, but I can’t seem to figure out what I did or find the answer in the manual. The playhead is not moving in the timeline. I push play and the video plays, but the playhead does not follow. I stop the clip and the playhead jumps to the stop point. What did I do and what is the remedy? Thanks.

There isn’t anything (that I’m aware of) that does this. I’d try moving the prefs (not trashing them) to see if it fixes this.

I’ve been seeing this happen too and had thought it was a bug in my system…but as it is happening to you as well…

I wish I could give some sort of rhyme/reason for its occurrence (such as “if I’m running Safari on an alternate Friday”) but it doesn’t seem linked to any other program consistently. I do find that simply quitting and restarting FCP clears it up.

YOu either have to quit out which takes too long and is annoying.
But a faster way is to just make a new project, then close it out and don’t save the Untitled Project.
Then when you go back to your project where the play head will not move, now when you hit play, it should work.
