  • Playback Settings (so HD footage won’t freeze)?

    Hey guys,

Working on an HD project in the latest version of FCP, every time I play back the timeline, it plays for a few seconds in the canvas before the video freezes, while the audio keeps going. Obviously, my computer can’t handle the HD footage playing back real time, but I thought there was a simple way to tweak my canvas settings to play back at 50% quality or something, so that I could at least see my edits. However, I’ve been looking around FCP and can’t find anything. What gives? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Set “Unlimited RT”. will And “PlayBack Video Quality” Dynamic. FC will drop frames and lows the picture quality but you should be able to ply it in RT.
In the upper left of the time-line (RT)

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.
