  • Playback QuickTime Movies on Windows

    Hi Folks,

QT movies shot on my GY HM-700 will not playback in a Windows environment. I installed the Clip Manager from the CD that came with camera to see if that would help, but all I still get is a black screen with audio.

We’re running QT 7 on Windows (on a college-wide server), and QT 7.6.6 on my MacBook Pro – – on which the clips PB just fine.

    Can anyone guide me?

    Thanks,

    Charlie Cogar

Sounds like you need to upgrade the current version of QT. It’s available for free from apple.com. Just install the latest version of iTunes and it will update all the necessary components.

If that doesn’t work, try installing the k-lite codec pack on the Windows machine.

    Well, so far no luck.

I’m confident I correctly downloaded the codec that Mark recommended, and still don’t get video.

    Hmmmmm.

Did you elect to make your QuickTime file self-contained when you created it? Obvious, but I had to ask. If you created a reference-only QuickTime file, it would only work on the computer you created it on.

The JVC engineer in New Jersey said this is the product with the codec that is needed to playback HD QT files in Windows:

Man caliberated q has some good codecs but you should just use this free program, it just reqraps mov files in windows editable mpg files, and mind you it dosent change the file in compression , the file is as good as mov file originally recorded .
