Playback problems with HD DV on FCP 5
I am editing a feature length movie shot with the new Sony HD DV camera using FCP 5. The problem I’m having is with the playback. I have checked my settings and all of the tech specs for FCP 5 on my system over and over again and still can’t figure it out. When I play the video, it looks very pixilated and jumps a lot, making the picture look fuzzy and low rez similar to a compressed quicktime on the internet. Here is the specs of the system I am on. I am on the G4 titanium laptop with 1 gig of ram and the very last version of panther with FCP5, and using two 500 gig Lacie drives (I know this was a mistake). My sequence is set up at HD1080i 29.97 fps and audio at 48 khz. Does anyone know what the problem may be with my playback? Do I need a special card to play the HD format? I am at a loss on this one. Help!
