Thank you for a great forum. To date it has been invaluable.

    Here’s my problem:

I have material captured from PAL digibeta via the Kona card using the PAL DV codec. Uninterrupted playback of 2 x 1 hour cut sequences is impossible. The Sequence, Capture & Video Playback presets are all set for 625 25 DV. Everything is rendered. Stops occur with a dialogue box saying the disks are too slow.

    I have done the following:

    1. Only one open sequence
    2. Tried both Unlimited RT & Safe RT
    3. Set the sequence to playback at each of the quality settings (including Low)
    4. Mixed down the audio
    5. Moved the media from an un-striped drive to a striped one (both 7200rpm serial ATA.)

None of the above is allowing either of the sequences to play from start to finish. The stops are frequent.

I was under the impression that this system would have no problems playing back DVCPRO HD and uncompressed 10-bit PAL. So you can imagine my surprise when it appears not to be able to manage PAL DV. I can’t believe 7200rpm Serial ATA drives really are too slow for DV.

What have I missed? Any suggestions greatfully received.

Have you performed a mixdown of the audio? Command is in the Sequence render only menu. Try that.

Thanks Jerry, but have already done that (No.4 in my list) with no noticeable effect.

Try turning off ‘mirror on desktop’ in the audio video settings… failing that dump the files in the render manager and re-render… might help….

No luck with either of these. Anybody got further ideas?
