    Hi,

strange thing is happening. After i use the Motion dialog to keyframe a zoom on a clip, playback in the timeline/canvas suddenly become jerky, as if the computer couldn’t handle the processing, but that certainly isn’t the case (octo, 16gb, raid). I’ve played with the RT settings, and my RAM is completely free, it’s a complete mystery to me why this is happening. The only way i can fix it is to restart FCP which is obviously very frustrating.

can anyone think of a reason this is happening and anything i’m missing out on,

I’ve never experienced this before, and the only difference i can see in my setup/workflow is that this is the first time i’m editing XDCAM 1080p30 drop frame.

i know this is going to sound ridiculous, but i’ve made this mistake before.. have to tried making sure that your canvas window is set at “fit to window?” sometimes a button gets hit and that window goes to 100%, which will cause your vid to appear jumpy. restarting the program will resort back to the original window size. could be what’s happening.

    Hey Chris,

that actually doesn’t sound too ridiculous.. i will try it if i run into the problem again, but i just literally think i found the problem, it turns out the timeline rendering settings were at 25p and not 30p, so and rendering, not just motion stuff, seemed to confuse FCP.. but fingers crossed this was the reason.

Thanks for the advice, you learn something new every day.. cheers!

    Tj
