    Hello,
I’m sure I’ve done this a thousand times over. But this time I’m having issues playing back DVCPRO HD 720p50 to my exernal SD monitor.

I have a correct timeline setting, (editing native DCPRO HD 720p50)
I usually set my video out for p2 to 720 50htz 8 bit and plays fine.
But I’m getting judderey playback. A kind of strobe effect. But not a field issue strobing. More like every second frame is oversize.

If I set my video out to 10bit 720p 50htz, playback is fine but image is oversized on my SD monitor (blackmagic system prefs set to downconvert on output)

If I set video out in FCP to 10bit or 8bit standard def. Playback is fine. Although it is letterboxed.
Just the 8 bit 720p50 video out setting in FCP creates this violent strobing effect. But that is the correct setting for the footage playing on the timeline.

    Running decklink 6.7.2
    FCP 6.0.3
    OSX 10.4.11

I have posted this in the Blackmagic forum but no response yet.
    any help appreciated!

Try toggling the “remove pulldown and duplicate frames” option in preferences.

Um.. where do I find that? Looked through the preferences a couple of times.

    Thanks for your help!

in the log and transfer window there is a drop down menu that looks like a gear wheel (upper right within upper left box that contain clip names),
Drop down and try the opposite of whatever is currently checked.
I THINK….when this is checked, you should not have any weird movements.
But I know there are times when you don’t want this checked.
I wish I knew more technically what is going on.

just give it a try and see if it helps.
