  • Playback issues in Premiere Pro (Red Komodo Footage)

I’m having major lag/playback issues with premiere pro and RED Komodo footage, so much to the point where I can’t even edit because it is lagging behind so much. I’m on a PC, 64GB Ram, GeForce RTX 2080Ti, Intel Core i9-9900K CPU @3.6GHz. I don’t think its my computer. Maybe my drive I am working off of? It’s a Lacie 10TB, 260mb/s, 7200 RPM. But I also have the same problem on my Qnap TR004 Raid 5 setup. Any suggestions??

It won’t even play back proxies that I have made properly. Audio cuts out intermittently, dropping tons of frames, uneditable.

    RED software up to date?

I am pretty sure it’s your computer.

    Komodo clocks in at 6K.

I’ve worked in 4 to 8K projects on a powerhouse HP Z840 and only decent proxied files played smoothly in Premiere.

Mind you this was two years ago.

Your proxy files what is the specs?

Also look into using ProRes on Windows for proxy.

I find h264 a PITA on all platforms for editing.

Its a delivery format not for editorial.

Audio cutting out means you have bandwidth issues. What size and type of proxies are you creating?
